Akimitsu Bizen (備前 昭充 Bizen Akimitsu?) is the director of the Shogakukan middle and high school water polo club.
Appearance[]
Akimitsu has a stern face and harsh features. He is of lean and athletic build and fair skin. He has short black hair with a widows peak, and dark gray eyes which he matches with his suit, he wears a relaxed business casual look and has slight scuffs of facial hair on his face. He appears middle-aged and has age lines on his face.
Personality[]
Akimitsu Bizen has a stone cold personality. He cares nothing for the emotions of the players on his water polo team or that they are human beings, considering them tools to get victory. In fact, he doesn't even care about teamwork, believing that one ace team member like Minato is all that is necessary to win a game, the rest of the teammates are just necessary requirements. Using the Ace player to keep the rest of them team in check, by having that player humiliate and insult and be hostel to the other players over even small mistakes, even if they are clearly trying their best. Even after Minato is replaced by Riku as the "Team Ace" and starts acting like Minato and improves to be as good as Minato was, all Akumitsu dose is say that Minato was better then he is with every little mistake he makes, refusing to even recognize him for his accomplishments.
He turns Minato from a happy, outgoing, caring, good natured and sensitive young man, into an uncaring, contemptful and just plain nasty excuse for a human being, that cant see anyone as his friend just as a rival, even his own teammates and parents. Minato, for example, after his memory's came back, starts tormenting his mother, who he originally did not blame for the car accent before they did, that left in a coma, which in his opinion was all her fault. When it really wasn't, as he seems to think this was deliberate on his mothers part just to keep him from playing water polo and to put him in a coma.
Minato gets to see Akimitsu cold side, which he was always spared from before, when he tries to get back on the team after his memory's come back. Akiumitsu tells him he has no use for him and even implies that he will never play water polo again just because he has fallen a year behind everyone. Akimitsu goes on to say he is "disappointed" too. Implying that the car accident was all somehow Minato's fault.
